The Ministry of Internal Affairs has announced the resolution of a crime committed 11 years ago. As part of the regional "Clean-up" operation, authorities also uncovered an illegal cryptocurrency mining farm and seized 2 kg of hashish in separate incidents.
During the operation, authorities identified individuals involved in an armed robbery that took place on May 21, 2014. On that day, two masked criminals, armed with a knife and a hunting rifle, broke into the home of a resident in the Shakhrikhan district. They attacked the homeowner and his family, demanding money and threatening to kill them if they contacted law enforcement. Before fleeing, the attackers also smashed the homeowner’s phone.
Investigators determined that the crime was committed by two men born in 1990 and 1993. One suspect has been arrested, while the other is still on the run and has been declared wanted. The hunting rifle used in the attack has been seized as evidence.
In another incident in the Khojaabad district, police stopped a Lacetti car driven by a 40-year-old man. A search of the vehicle led to the discovery of 2 kg of hashish.
Authorities also uncovered an illegal cryptocurrency mining farm. The owner had illegally connected mining equipment and a cooling facility to the power grid without a contract with the district energy company, resulting in financial damage estimated at 1.2 billion UZS.
