SSS arrests Almalyk resident for trying to sell land plot illegally for $2.4 million
The State Security Service (SSS) has prevented several illegal land sale operations across regions including Surkhandarya, Tashkent, and Khorezm. In one such case, a resident of Almalyk city was arrested with material evidence after receiving a $500,000 advance payment.

A resident of Almalyk city was caught attempting to sell 32 hectares of agricultural land in Akhangaran district. Using his connections with officials, he promised to facilitate the land’s official registration in the buyer’s name in exchange for $2.4 million. He was detained with material evidence after receiving an advance payment of $500,000 at a café in Tashkent city by officers from the SSS Tashkent City Department, the City Department of Internal Affairs, and the City Branch of the Department for Combating Economic Crimes.
In another operation conducted by the State Security Service Tashkent Regional Department in cooperation with the Department under the General Prosecutor’s Office, two individuals from Yangiyul district were caught illegally attempting to sell 48 sotka (0.48 hectares / 4,800 square meters) of reserve land belonging to the district administration. They demanded $60,000 for the transaction, plus an additional $8,160 for handling cadastral documentation. They were detained while receiving $64,000 in total.
Similarly, in Sherabad district, Surkhandarya region, an individual attempted to sell 20 sotka (0.2 hectares / 2,000 square meters) of land belonging to the "Amu-Surkhan" Irrigation Systems Basin Department under the Ministry of Water Resources, along with 45 sotka (0.45 hectares / 4,500 square meters) of agricultural land owned by a local resident. The agreed price was $60,000. The suspect was detained while receiving $56,700 and 43 million UZS by officers from the SSS, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and the Department for Combating Economic Crimes.
In Urgench district, Khorezm region, a person attempted to illegally sell 24 sotka (0.24 hectares / 2,400 square meters) of state-reserve land along the Shovot canal. With the help of contacts in the cadastral system, he intended to formalize the land in the buyer’s name in exchange for $45,000 and 13 million UZS. He was detained while receiving the payment by SSS officers and the Department for Combating Economic Crimes.
Criminal cases have been initiated against all individuals involved, and investigations are currently underway.
