Recently, criminal groups have been targeting Uzbek citizens with promises of large financial rewards, attempting to lure them into illegal migrant smuggling operations to EU countries, particularly Greece, via sea routes.
Individuals involved in such activities face severe criminal liability under Turkish law, including lengthy prison sentences.
Consequences of aiding illegal migration:
- Imprisonment for up to 10 years;
- Heavy fines and deportation;
- Loss of the right to permanent residence and employment in Türkiye;
- A ban on entry to Türkiye and European countries.
The Consulate General strongly urges Uzbek citizens not to fall for such deceptive promises and to avoid any suspicious offers.
