Uzbekistan intends to use Estonian ports for export diversification

The Minister of Investment, Industry, and Trade (MIIT) discussed with the Estonian ambassador the potential use of the ports of Tallinn, Muuga, Pärnu, and Sillamäe as part of Uzbekistan’s plan to diversify its export routes, according to the MIIT press service.
The Minister of Investment, Industry, and Trade, Laziz Kudratov, met with the new Estonian ambassador to Uzbekistan, Jaap Ora, to discuss the current state and prospects of expanding bilateral cooperation.
They expressed a unified stance on taking additional measures to boost trade turnover, which grew by 20% in 2024 to $150 million, driven by services, heavy engineering products, and medical equipment.
The parties discussed the possibility of using the ports of Tallinn, Muuga, Pärnu, and Sillamäe to diversify export routes for Uzbek products to Northern and Western European markets.
Additionally, Minister of Transport Ilkhom Makhkamov discussed with the Estonian ambassador the possibilities of increasing freight volumes using Estonia’s ports and warehouse facilities. The Minister of Transport proposed jointly organizing a Road Show in Estonia, as well as holding a business forum in Uzbekistan this year.
During a meeting at the Ministry of Digital Technologies, agreements were reached to expand cooperation in the fields of information technology, telecommunications, the digital economy, and electronic services.
