From 4.4 million to 37.5 million: Uzbekistan’s population grows eightfold in a century
Uzbekistan’s population continues to grow, reaching 37.5 million as of January 1, 2025, according to the Statistics Agency.

Over the past 105 years, Uzbekistan’s population has increased more than eightfold, from just 4.4 million in 1920 to 37.5 million in 2025. The most rapid growth was recorded between 1960 and 1990, when the population more than doubled from 8.4 million to 20.2 million.
In the 21st century, Uzbekistan has maintained a steady growth rate, adding nearly 13 million people since the year 2000.
