An extraordinary meeting of the Scientific and Expert Council under the Cultural Heritage Agency, held on April 9, reviewed restoration and reconstruction projects for several historical sites within the Hazrati Imam Complex.
According to the statement, restoration projects for the Abu Bakr Qaffal Shashi Mausoleum, Barakhan and Muyi Muborak madrasahs, and the Namozgoh and Tilla Shaykh mosques — all located on Zarkaynar Street — were examined by council members and unanimously approved.
The council emphasized that the projects were approved only on the condition that the monuments would not be harmed and that the foundation paving under the walls would use special fired Muslim bricks, measuring 250×250×50 mm, baked in kilns.
The implementation and oversight of these works have been entrusted to the Tashkent city department of the Cultural Heritage Agency and the state institution “Scientific Research Institute for Cultural Heritage.”
In addition, the Council also approved projects for the renovation of the Qiziltepa Historical Museum in Navoi region and the construction of a mausoleum and auxiliary buildings at the Manak Ota pilgrimage site in Khojaobod district, Andijan region.
