Tashkent and Moscow discuss localizing migration checks for Uzbek workers
Uzbekistan and Russia have held talks on streamlining migration procedures for labor migrants, including proposals to relocate medical examinations and Russian language proficiency tests to Tashkent.

According to Dunyo news agency, a bilateral working group convened at Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, involving representatives from the Uzbek MFA, the Prosecutor General’s Office, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Migration Agency under the Cabinet of Ministers, and the Russian Embassy in Tashkent.
During the discussions, the two sides explored the possibility of transferring migration procedures, medical screenings, and Russian language exams to the Tashkent branches of Russian universities. They also reviewed proposals to reopen local offices of Russia’s “Passport and Visa Service” state unitary enterprise and the “Sakharov” Multifunctional Migration Center in Tashkent.
Additional proposals included opening training centers to help migrants prepare for language exams, launching courses in Russian language, Russian history, and legal studies, and establishing a specialized medical clinic in Uzbekistan to conduct required screenings and tests.
The Russian delegation confirmed its readiness to positively consider Uzbekistan’s request to resume operations of the “Passport and Visa Service” branch in Tashkent.
Furthermore, both parties agreed to include the above issues in the agenda of the upcoming interdepartmental working group meeting scheduled for April 27–30 in Moscow.
