Russia promises transparent response to Uzbekistan's concerns about mistreatment of migrants
The information contained in the diplomatic note from Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs — expressing concern over reports of searches and mistreatment of Uzbek citizens in Russia — is currently being reviewed by the relevant Russian authorities, said Maria Zakharova, spokesperson for the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

"The Russian side is thoroughly examining the information provided in the diplomatic note from Uzbekistan’s Foreign Ministry. The relevant request from our Uzbek partners has been forwarded to the competent authorities. Verified and objective findings will be sent to Tashkent in accordance with established procedures," Zakharova stated.
Earlier, Akhror Burkhanov, press secretary of Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, announced that the Ministry had expressed concern over reports of Uzbek citizens in Russia being subjected to searches and improper treatment. In response, Uzbekistan's Embassy in Moscow sent a note to the Russian Foreign Ministry requesting clarification.
"In light of the note we received from Uzbekistan’s Embassy, we are carefully studying the information it contains. I would like to emphasize that we have direct communication channels through law enforcement and other services. In line with the tradition between allies, discussions are held in a sincere manner, and every signal is taken seriously. The Uzbek side’s request, as mentioned above, will be communicated to the relevant authorities based on the objective data obtained," the diplomat added.
"Above all, we want to underscore that Russia maintains a strong alliance and a comprehensive strategic partnership with Uzbekistan, and we approach all issues in our bilateral relations from this standpoint," Zakharova concluded.
On June 8, Russian law enforcement conducted raids in Moscow and St. Petersburg, during which there were reports of verbal abuse and excessive force used against migrants. The Uzbekistan Migration Agency’s representative office in Russia stated that the situation is being monitored and urged any Uzbek citizens affected by the raids to come forward.
