Children’s Ombudsman reports 60 cases of violence against minors in six months

The press service of the Commissioner for Children’s Rights under the Oliy Majlis (Parliament) has released statistics on complaints regarding violations of children’s rights over the past half-year.

According to the Children’s Ombudsman, a total of 885 complaints were reviewed in the first six months of 2025, marking a 47% increase compared to the same period last year. Of these, 20 complaints (2.3%) were submitted directly by minors.

As a result of internet monitoring, 185 cases involving violations of children's rights were identified. In cooperation with relevant state authorities, 60 instances of violence against children were confirmed, leading to the initiation of 16 criminal cases and 22 administrative proceedings.

Based on appeals from parents and other close relatives, five children were repatriated to Uzbekistan from abroad, while one child was returned to Russia.

Additionally, 16 unattended children discovered in various regions of the Russian Federation were provided with necessary conditions in the cities where they were found and later returned to Uzbekistan.

In the first half of 2025, the Children’s Ombudsman conducted 21 in-person receptions, during which 87 citizen appeals were reviewed. Staff members of the Ombudsman’s Secretariat participated 20 times in civil, criminal, and administrative court hearings as observers, ensuring the protection of children’s interests.
