Uzbekistan’s gas and gasoline production drops despite industrial growth in H1 2025
Uzbekistan saw a notable decrease in gas and gasoline production during the first half of 2025, despite overall industrial output growing compared to the same period last year.
According to data published by the Statistics Committee, the country produced industrial goods worth UZS 488.5 trillion in the first six months of 2025 – an increase of 6.6% compared to the same period in 2024.
However, the production of motor gasoline dropped by nearly 14.8%, totaling 575,600 tons compared to 675,900 tons in the first half of 2024. Diesel fuel output, on the other hand, increased to 557,500 tons, up from 505,100 tons in the previous year.
Natural gas extraction also declined. In the first half of 2025, Uzbekistan extracted 21.79 billion cubic meters of gas, down from 22.49 billion cubic meters during the same period in 2024 and more than 23.56 billion cubic meters in the first half of 2023.
Crude oil production fell from 364,000 tons in mid-2024 to 323,800 tons this year.
Meanwhile, the country manufactured 185,622 passenger vehicles during the reporting period, up from 177,443 a year earlier. The top-selling models included:
- Cobalt – 73,102 units (+0.2%)
- Damas – 45,992 units (+18.1%)
- Tracker – 22,847 units (+6.3%)
- Onix – 17,249 units (+1%)
- Kia – 11,763 units
- BYD – 7,000 units
Electricity production also rose by 6.6%, increasing from 40.83 billion kWh to 43.54 billion kWh over the six-month period.
