Over 28,500 households across Uzbekistan earned over $5 million from solar energy sales to the grid in H1 2025

The total amount disbursed under the “Solar Home” program reached nearly UZS 63.5 billion (over $5 million at the Central Bank’s exchange rate), with more than one-third of the payments issued in June. A total of 93,900 subsidies were processed (26,500 of them in June alone).

Residents of the Khorezm region received the highest payouts for green energy. Over the six-month period, 9,670 individuals were paid UZS 19.1 billion, of which UZS 16.5 billion was disbursed in the second quarter alone.

Karakalpakstan ranked second with UZS 9.7 billion (UZS 8.6 billion in April–June), while Tashkent came third with UZS 4.9 billion (UZS 4.4 billion in April–June).

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev first announced the subsidy program for households installing solar panels in February 2023. The funds are transferred via the Soliq mobile application to the owner’s bank card by the 25th of the month following the reporting period.

In August 2024, the president ordered the exemption of solar panel components from import duties and VAT – a move aimed at leveling the playing field between domestic producers and importers.

In 2024, more than 10,800 citizens received subsidies through the “Solar Home” program. The total amount of disbursed funds was UZS 12.18 billion.
