Uzbekistan appoints first ambassador to Fiji
The post has been taken by the country’s ambassador to Japan. An official ceremony was held to present his credentials to the head of state.
Uzbekistan’s ambassador with residence in Tokyo, Mukhsinkhoja Abdurakhmanov, presented his credentials to the President of Fiji, Ratu Naiqama Tawakekolati Lalabalavu, the Dunyo news agency reported.
During the ceremony, an honor guard was lined up, the national anthem of Uzbekistan was played, and, for the first time in history, the Uzbek flag was raised at the presidential palace in Suva.
At the meeting, the President of Fiji noted that, despite the geographical distance between them, the two countries share friendly relations based on mutual respect, constructive dialogue, and common values.
It was also emphasized that the appointment of Uzbekistan’s ambassador to Fiji – for the first time in diplomatic relations between the two countries – is an important historic event for both nations.
