The discussions took place at the Cabinet of Ministers during a meeting between Deputy Prime Minister Jamshid Khodjaev, Sumitomo Corporation President and CEO Shingo Ueno, and Shikoku Electric Power President and Director Yoshihiro Miyamoto.
The parties focused on advancing renewable energy projects, with particular attention to bringing solar power plants into operation on schedule and completing the outstanding approvals needed to move forward with a wind power project.
The talks also covered potential cooperation in manufacturing cables for power transmission lines, supplying equipment for the mining industry and providing ambulances.
Japanese companies’ experience in managing special economic zones and in electricity generation, transmission and distribution was another area of interest.
Further areas for cooperation include modernizing Uzbekistan’s power grids, operating energy storage systems and training specialists for the energy sector.
