The appearance of regional aircraft such as the L-410 and ATR-72 has spurred the active development of new airports in Uzbekistan. In recent years, Zomin, Kokand and Sariosiyo have received their first flights, and now another aerodrome – Arnasay – has been added, AvroRJ’s SKY reported.
The aerodrome is located in Jizzakh region, on the banks of Lake Aydarkul. It features a runway measuring 1,700 m × 30 m, designated 12/30, two parking stands designed for L-410 and ATR-72 aircraft, and a terminal.
The first aircraft to test the new runway was the CASA C295W military transport plane, which effectively opened the record of landings at Arnasay.
The aerodrome is expected to become a transport hub for a future resort complex and open the region to more tourists.
