Competition Committee launches probe into VFS Global over state language compliance
The Competition Committee has initiated an investigation into the visa center VFS Global following a complaint that it conducts documentation only in Russian and English.
The supervisory body received an appeal from Kashkadarya resident Kh. Eshonkulov, who complained that the company does not use the state language in its voice menu, documentation, or communication with call center operators.
The complaint noted that all documentation in the company is handled exclusively in Russian and English. The Committee added that citizens had previously filed repeated complaints about visa centers and consulting firms failing to meet language requirements.
Based on the Law “On the State Language,” the Committee sent an official request to VFS Global and warned that “appropriate measures” would be taken. The company must respond within 10 days.
The watchdog reminded that Uzbek has the status of the state language in Uzbekistan and said it would monitor the provision of “complete and clear information” to clients in Uzbek.
In July, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs discussed with VFS Global’s management the expansion of services offered in Uzbekistan. The sides agreed to organize paid field visits by staff to process applications, open new offices in the regions, and simplify visa procedures for long-distance foreign countries.
