Ural Airlines plane to Tashkent returns to Irkutsk after bird strike
An aircraft carrying 91 passengers from Irkutsk to Tashkent was forced to return after colliding with a flock of birds.
According to the East Siberian Transport Prosecutor’s Office, the incident occurred today, September 12, 2025, at 07:40 local time at Irkutsk airport.
The report stated that an A-319 aircraft operated by Ural Airlines on flight 2719 from Irkutsk to Tashkent struck a flock of birds as they entered the plane’s engine.
As a result, the aircraft commander decided to return to Irkutsk airport.
There were 6 crew members and 91 passengers on board. No one was injured in the incident, and the aircraft did not sustain any damage.
The Baikal-Angarsk Transport Prosecutor’s Office has launched an inspection into compliance with flight safety regulations.
