According to him, the announced results left a strong impression. Information on how many people have escaped poverty, what new economic and social support measures are being introduced, and the conditions being created for a decent life are all highly important, he noted.

“Switzerland is also actively involved in this process. We are returning funds obtained from criminal sources to Uzbekistan, and these funds are being directed toward social projects that contribute to poverty reduction. For example, today a document will be signed in Uzbekistan on a project to modernize more than 45 schools. This involves improving sanitation and hygiene facilities – toilets, washrooms – as well as increasing the energy efficiency of buildings. All of this is being done for the benefit of the people and the future of the country,” the ambassador said in an interview with Dunyo.

The decision to return funds to the people of Uzbekistan and use them for the benefit of society is the result of the joint will of the governments of Switzerland and Uzbekistan.

“The results achieved in reducing poverty in the country are remarkable, and this has delighted not only me but also all participants of the forum. We stand for every person in Uzbekistan having the opportunity to realize their potential – both economically and socially – and to live a dignified life,” Konstantin Obolensky emphasized.
