Uzbekistan and UN to expand cooperation with new five-year program
President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, during talks with UN Secretary-General António Guterres, expressed support for his initiatives to reform the organization in line with modern realities.

The sides reviewed proposals to further expand bilateral cooperation to achieve national targets aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals.
Mirziyoyev sincerely congratulated António Guterres on the UN’s jubilee session, firmly backing his proposals for reforming the organization in accordance with current global challenges.

The unprecedentedly high level of partnership between Uzbekistan and the UN was highlighted with satisfaction. More than 160 programs and projects are being implemented successfully, and a new five-year Cooperation Program is expected to be signed in October.
In recent years, 13 UN General Assembly resolutions have been adopted at Uzbekistan’s initiative. The country has also been elected to respected bodies such as ECOSOC, the Human Rights Committee and the Statistical Commission.
António Guterres highly praised President Mirziyoyev’s address at the jubilee General Assembly, stressing the importance of his initiatives on advancing the Sustainable Development Goals, shaping a New Central Asia, promoting global cooperation in digital technologies and artificial intelligence, and fostering initiatives in youth, enlightened Islam and other areas.

The talks also included an exchange of views on pressing international and regional issues.
As a result of the meeting, the sides agreed to develop comprehensive partnerships in priority areas and work out new programs and projects of cooperation.
