Low-income households in Uzbekistan received UZS 17.3 billion in energy compensation over four months
In August, low-income households in Uzbekistan received compensation payments totaling UZS 4.1 billion for electricity and natural gas, the Ministry of Energy reported.
According to a presidential decree, low-income households are reimbursed for the difference between the base tariff and the higher tariff applied to consumption exceeding 150 kWh of electricity and 150 cubic meters of natural gas.
So far, more than 1.711 million applications for compensation have been submitted by low-income households. Based on the scoring of electricity and natural gas consumption for August 2025, 222,887 households whose usage exceeded the base limit were allocated compensation amounting to UZS 4.1 billion.
Of this:
- UZS 3,612.4 million was allocated for electricity
- UZS 552.7 million for natural gas
For reference, from May to August 2025, a total of UZS 17.3 billion in compensation was paid to 350,600 households whose electricity and natural gas consumption exceeded the base limit.
In July, as a result of scoring consumption data, 278,100 households exceeding the base limit were allocated UZS 5.8 billion in compensation – 71,300 more households than in June.
