Uzbekistan to build 120,000-ton gasoline reserve for winter
Uzbekistan will build a reserve of 120,000 tons of gasoline for the peak winter months as part of a broader effort to ensure stable energy supplies during the 2026–2027 heating season.
On July 6, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev reviewed preparations for the upcoming autumn–winter period during a meeting on the readiness of the country's oil and gas sector.
The discussions focused on measures to ensure uninterrupted supplies of energy resources to households, social institutions and businesses. Officials presented plans covering the delivery of natural gas and liquefied petroleum gas, repairs to the national gas transmission network, the accumulation of fuel reserves and the preparedness of emergency response teams.
Ahead of the heating season, authorities plan to replace 53.7 kilometers of defective sections of main gas pipelines and carry out major overhauls of 77 gas compressor units at compressor stations.

To improve gas supply for 220,000 households across 881 neighborhoods and reduce technical losses, the gas distribution system will be converted from a three-stage to a two-stage configuration. In addition, 711.9 kilometers of gas pipelines and 400 gas distribution stations will undergo major repairs or reconstruction.
During the autumn–winter season, Uzbekistan plans to supply 325,700 tons of liquefied petroleum gas, including 8,200 tons allocated to 104,700 consumers living in 229 remote settlements.
The government will also establish a strategic reserve of 120,000 tons of automotive gasoline for December and January.
Thermal power plants are scheduled to receive 4.161 million tons of coal over the course of the heating season to support electricity generation.

Uzbekneftegaz will carry out maintenance and repair work on 90 technological facilities to ensure uninterrupted operation of production assets and maintain stable supplies of energy resources to consumers and the wider economy.
President Mirziyoyev stressed that preparations for the heating season should extend beyond the oil and gas sector and be coordinated with the energy and public utilities sectors. He instructed the relevant authorities to activate national and regional commissions responsible for overseeing preparations and to maintain continuous monitoring of the work.
Officials were also instructed to ensure strict oversight of all planned measures, complete preparations on time and guarantee reliable supplies of natural gas, liquefied petroleum gas and other fuels to households and social facilities throughout the autumn – winter season.
