SSS detains two in Namangan for unlicensed crypto trading
The State Security Service (SSS), together with the Namangan regional Department of Internal Affairs, has detained two residents for conducting unlicensed cryptocurrency operations as part of the “Safe Region” preventive operation.
According to the investigation, a 27-year-old resident of the Yangiabod neighborhood in Namangan city was found to have carried out 20 illegal transactions between December 2024 and August this year, generating profits of UZS 383 million. His activities were uncovered during an inspection of his mobile phone.
Another violation was detected in the Zarkent neighborhood, where a local resident conducted 45 similar transactions over the course of a year, earning more than UZS 352 million.
In total, the value of the illegal transactions carried out by the two men exceeded UZS 735 million.
A criminal case has been opened under Article 278-8 of Uzbekistan’s Criminal Code, which covers violations of legislation regulating the circulation of crypto assets. The investigation is ongoing.
