The country is set to enhance its consumer protection system following a presidential decree introducing new mechanisms to safeguard buyers.
According to the document, beginning March 1, 2026, the sale of products with expired expiration dates covered by the digital labeling system will be automatically restricted. Specifically, cash registers will be technically blocked from issuing receipts for such goods once their validity period has expired.
In addition, between October 15, 2025, and January 1, 2027, a pilot mechanism will be introduced allowing non-governmental non-profit organizations to handle consumer complaints and conduct “mystery shopper” inspections and control purchases.
To further improve the efficiency of consumer complaint handling, starting December 1 of this year, a new interaction system will be launched connecting consumers, businesses, NGOs, and government agencies.
