Uzbekistan appoints new ambassador to Iraq
Ayubkhon Yunusov, who also serves as Uzbekistan’s ambassador to Kuwait, has been appointed as the country’s new ambassador to Iraq.
Uzbekistan’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary with residence in Kuwait, Ayubkhon Yunusov, presented his credentials to President of Iraq Abdul Latif Rashid.
During the meeting, the Iraqi president spoke warmly about his previous conversations with President Shavkat Mirziyoyev on the sidelines of international conferences and expressed his satisfaction with the appointment of the new Uzbek ambassador. He wished Yunusov success in his diplomatic mission.
It should be recalled that Ayubkhon Yunusov was appointed Uzbekistan’s ambassador to Kuwait in February of last year. Prior to that, he headed the Consular and Legal Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The diplomat graduated from the Imam al-Bukhari Tashkent Islamic Institute, Al-Azhar University in Egypt, the University of World Economy and Diplomacy, and the Tashkent State University of Law. He holds a PhD in Law and has served in the foreign ministry system since 2003, including at the Uzbek Embassy in Saudi Arabia and the consulates general in Jeddah and Dubai.
