Military units from Central Asia and Azerbaijan launch joint drills in Uzbekistan

A large-scale military exercise involving the armed forces of Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Azerbaijan has commenced at the “Kattakurgan” training ground of the Central Military District.

On 14 October, the opening ceremony of Unity – 2025, one of the largest military exercises conducted by Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Defense within the framework of military cooperation, took place.

As highlighted at the ceremony, the purpose of the multi-day exercise is to strengthen mutual trust among the participating countries, enhance military cooperation, and reinforce close partnerships in effectively responding to modern challenges amid rising geopolitical tensions, crises, and emerging threats around the world.

During the Unity – 2025 regional exercise, participants will jointly carry out combat training missions based on modern warfare experience. They will apply the most effective combat tactics and techniques, utilizing artillery, unmanned aerial vehicles, armored vehicles, and other weapon systems capable of accurately neutralizing long-range targets.

Within the framework of the exercise, participants will also engage in combat training sessions using advanced military tactics, compete in various contests, and visit the ancient city of Samarkand to become acquainted with its rich historical and spiritual heritage, traditions, and customs.

As part of the event, the first meeting of the defense ministers of Central Asian states and Azerbaijan will also be held in Samarkand.
