Since 2017, Uzbekistan has deepened its collaboration with UNESCO, expanding from cultural preservation to strategic partnerships in education, science, and digital innovation. Over the past eight years, 16 elements of Uzbekistan’s intangible cultural heritage have been added to UNESCO’s lists. Additionally, UNESCO Chairs have been established at universities in Samarkand and Tashkent, and the International Al-Biruni Prize was introduced to recognize contributions to cultural and scientific advancement.
Joint programs with UNESCO have also advanced in areas such as climate research, early childhood education, and digital transformation. Upcoming initiatives include the opening of the UNESCO Regional Centre for Early Childhood Development in Samarkand and the presentation of a joint methodology for assessing readiness for artificial intelligence implementation.
The 43rd UNESCO General Conference will provide a platform for Uzbekistan to contribute to global discussions on cultural and educational priorities. This event underscores the country’s increasing influence in shaping UNESCO’s agenda and fostering international cooperation.
