Between January and September 2025, Uzbekistan exported natural gas worth approximately $630 million to China via pipelines, TASS reported with reference to China’s General Administration of Customs.
Russia remained China’s leading gas supplier, exporting gas worth $7.29 billion, an 18.9 percent increase compared to last year.
Turkmenistan, which had long held the top position with a significant lead over other countries, ranked second with $6.46 billion worth of gas exports – down 12.7 percent year-on-year.
Myanmar followed with $1.18 billion, Kazakhstan with over $854.7 million, and Uzbekistan with around $629.8 million.
The report also noted that in recent years, China’s customs authorities have stopped disclosing the physical volumes of pipeline gas imported from individual countries.
According to official customs statistics, in 2024 China imported pipeline gas worth $21.1 billion, up 8.6 percent compared to 2023. Purchases from Russia alone rose by 25 percent to reach $8.03 billion.
