Energy Minister: No tariff hikes planned for electricity and gas during autumn–winter season

Electricity and natural gas prices in Uzbekistan will not increase during the upcoming autumn–winter season, Energy Minister Jurabek Mirzamakhmudov announced.

According to the minister, electricity and gas tariffs will be indexed to the inflation rate in May next year.

The new pricing system for gas and electricity came into effect on May 1. Since then, the base electricity tariff (up to 200 kWh per month) has risen from UZS 450 to UZS 600, while the gas price has increased from UZS 650 to UZS 1,000 per cubic meter.

How tariffs were set

According to the Cabinet of Ministers’ resolution, from April 2025, electricity consumers in Group III – including residents of apartment buildings and dormitories equipped with centralized electric stoves – will pay the following monthly rates:

  • up to 200 kWh – UZS 300;
  • 201–1,000 kWh – UZS 500;
  • 1,001–5,000 kWh – UZS 750;
  • 5,001–10,000 kWh – UZS 875;
  • over 10,000 kWh – UZS 1,000.

For Group I consumers, the rate remains unchanged at UZS 1,000 per kWh. The same rate applies to Groups II and IV, where electricity is supplied at UZS 1,000 per kWh.

For other household consumers, tariffs were approved as follows:

  • up to 200 kWh – UZS 600;
  • 201–1,000 kWh – UZS 1,000;
  • 1,001–5,000 kWh – UZS 1,500;
  • 5,001–10,000 kWh – UZS 1,750;
  • over 10,000 kWh – UZS 2,000.

Natural gas tariffs

Household natural gas tariffs were set as follows:

  • up to 500 cubic meters per month – UZS 1,000;
  • 501–2,500 cubic meters – UZS 1,800;
  • 2,501–5,000 cubic meters – UZS 2,100;
  • 5,001–10,000 cubic meters – UZS 2,500;
  • over 10,000 cubic meters – UZS 3,000.

Gas-filling compressor stations pay UZS 2,500 per cubic meter, while thermal power plants and heating stations are charged UZS 1,800 per cubic meter.

In addition, losses incurred from selling gas to the population at prices lower than production costs are covered by the state budget. For 2025, UZS 7 trillion has been allocated for this purpose.
