Uzbekistan to allocate UZS 1.2 trillion financial support to low-income households during heating season

More than 1 million families across Uzbekistan will receive one-time financial assistance this heating season, according to the National Agency for Social Protection. The largest groups of recipients include families with persons with disabilities and households relying solely on pensions.

In total, 1.1 million families nationwide will receive 1 million UZS each. Of these, 822,000 are already registered in the social registry, while an additional 290,000 were identified through the “Neighborhood Seven” system.

The additional beneficiaries include:

• families with a person with a disability – 76,300;

• families living solely on pensions – 69,700;

• families whose breadwinner is in labor migration – 34,700;

• families who lost their breadwinner – 33,800;

• families with a member suffering from a severe illness – 23,700;

• single elderly individuals – 7,000;

• households not connected to the gas network – 2,000;

• families sharing one home with more than three households – 26,200;

• temporarily unemployed individuals – 15,100;

• single-person households – 2,300.

For comparison, last year 120,000 families received support of 270,000 UZS each. This year, both the number of beneficiaries and the assistance amount have significantly increased – the payment size alone has risen 2.5 times.

Overall, 1.2 trillion UZS will be allocated from the State budget to fund this social support program.
