Uzbekistan to increase base rate for natural gas consumption fivefold during heating season
Uzbekistan will increase the base rate for natural gas consumption fivefold for a period of four months during the heating season.
According to the Ministry of Energy, the monthly consumption limit will be set at up to 500 cubic meters from November to February and 100 cubic meters per month from March to October.
Due to higher natural gas consumption in the autumn–winter period, households in Karakalpakstan and the Khorezm region will have a monthly limit of 500 cubic meters from October to February.
At the same time, under a presidential decree, low-income families will receive monthly state compensation for electricity and natural gas consumption.
The compensation will be provided as follows:
- For electricity – for up to 150 kWh consumed beyond the base rate of 200 kWh per month;
- For natural gas – for up to 250 cubic meters consumed beyond the base rate during winter months, and up to 150 cubic meters in other months.
