Videos circulating on social media showed gas leaking from the “Mustaqillikning 25 yilligi” (“25 Years of Independence”) field in Boysun district, Surkhandarya region. The ministry’s press service confirmed that the situation remains stable and under control.

On 2 November, the flame that had previously been burning at well No. 202 of the M-25 field temporarily went out. Experts explained that the incident occurred as a result of geological processes taking place in the field.

To prevent the release of harmful substances into the atmosphere, the gas was promptly re-ignited.

The ministry noted that this method is a standard environmental protection measure and fully complies with international industrial safety requirements.

“The situation is currently stable and under the supervision of specialists. It should be emphasized that this occurred during routine field control operations, and no unexpected incidents have been recorded,” the ministry said in its statement.

It also clarified that the incident was not connected to the earthquake recorded at 01:29 on the night of 3 November.
