From January to September 2025, a total of 35,200 households in Uzbekistan received payments under the Solar Home program for selling electricity generated by their solar panels to the national grid, according to the State Tax Committee.

The total amount of subsidies reached 153.64 billion UZS, equivalent to $12.83 million at the current Central Bank exchange rate. More than half of this amount was distributed in the third quarter, with 33.48 billion UZS ($2.79 million) paid out in September alone.

Khorezm region remains the leader among all regions in payout volume. In September, residents of the region received 8.15 billion UZS ($681,000) in subsidies, bringing the total for the year to 42.58 billion UZS – accounting for over one-fourth of the nationwide total.

Karakalpakstan ranks second with 22.39 billion UZS (14.6%), including 4.42 billion UZS for the last reporting month. Bukhara region is in third place, with 4.26 billion UZS paid in September and 15.34 billion UZS over nine months (10%).

Rounding out the top five are Kashkadarya region (11.84 billion UZS) and Tashkent (10.75 billion UZS). In September, these two accounted for 2.92 billion and 2.39 billion UZS respectively.

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev first announced subsidies for households installing solar panels in February 2023. Payments are made via the Soliq mobile application to the owner’s bank card by the 25th day of the month following the reporting period.

In August last year, the president ordered the exemption of solar panel components from import duties and VAT – a measure aimed at leveling competition between local manufacturers and importers.

In 2024, more than 10,800 citizens received payments under the Solar Home program, with the total volume of payouts amounting to 12.18 billion UZS.
