Uzbekistan and Iran deepen cooperation on security issues
Uzbekistan and Iran have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening security cooperation during a high-level meeting held on the sidelines of the fourth session of interior ministers of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) member states.

First Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Ayubkhon Rakhmatullaev met with Iran’s Minister of Interior Eskandar Momeni to discuss ways to expand collaboration between the two countries’ law enforcement agencies.
During the talks, both sides noted that cooperation in security matters has been steadily broadening and deepening across multiple areas. The ministers highlighted the establishment of a joint working group on security as an important step forward. The group’s first meeting, held in Tehran, served as a platform for dialogue and the rapid exchange of information and best practices.
The parties also expressed readiness to hold the second meeting of the working group in Tashkent. They emphasized that joint efforts in this sphere will raise bilateral cooperation to a new level and agreed on the importance of strengthening direct ties between responsible agencies to improve the exchange of operational information and experience.
