Environmental monitoring detects surge in waste dumping across Uzbekistan

Since January 2025, 9,817 cases of illegal waste dumping have been recorded across Uzbekistan through IP cameras. About 77 percent of these violations, 7,583 cases, occurred in the Fergana Valley provinces.

According to the Agency for Waste Management and Circular Economy Development, the violations were detected through IP cameras installed nationwide by the working group under the Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change, which is responsible for operating online surveillance and continuous monitoring.

Of the total number of violations, 3,714 involved vehicles, while 6,103 were committed by individuals.

The agency reported that 2,232 cases have already resulted in penalties, while 7,585 others are still under review.

The regions with the highest number of violations are as follows:

  • Andijan region – 3,001 cases
  • Namangan region – 2,937 cases
  • Fergana region – 1,645 cases
  • Samarkand region – 981 cases
  • Tashkent region – 434 cases
  • Surkhandarya region – 250 cases
  • Syrdarya region – 144 cases
  • Tashkent city – 121 cases
  • Khorezm region – 117 cases
  • Navoi region – 99 cases
  • Kashkadarya region – 70 cases
  • Jizzakh region – 16 cases
  • Bukhara region – 2 cases

No data was provided for the Republic of Karakalpakstan.

The total amount of fines imposed for the 2,232 confirmed cases reached UZS 956.9 million.
