Number of joint ventures and foreign-owned firms in Uzbekistan nearly doubles over five years

Uzbekistan continues to attract foreign investment, with the total number of enterprises involving foreign capital reaching 17,595 as of November 1, 2025.

Of these, 4,204 are joint ventures, while 13,391 are wholly foreign-owned companies. The figures mark a 1.9-fold increase over the past five years, highlighting the country’s growing appeal to international investors, according to the National Statistics Committee.

China, Russia, and Turkey remain the largest sources of foreign investment, collectively accounting for nearly 60 percent of all foreign-invested enterprises. The top 10 investing countries are:

  • China – 4,731 enterprises
  • Russia – 3,177 enterprises
  • Turkey – 2,090 enterprises
  • Kazakhstan – 1,185 enterprises
  • South Korea – 683 enterprises
  • Afghanistan – 636 enterprises
  • United Arab Emirates – 396 enterprises
  • Tajikistan – 379 enterprises
  • India – 356 enterprises
  • United States – 328 enterprises

Foreign-invested enterprises in Uzbekistan operate across a wide range of sectors. Trade leads the list with 6,286 companies, followed by industry (3,647), construction (1,358), and information and communication (1,354). Other areas of activity include accommodation and food services (725), transport and storage (572), agriculture, forestry, and fisheries (437), health and social services (206), and various other sectors (3,010).
