Deputy district governor dismissed after assaulting ecology inspector in Fergana; criminal case opened
A deputy governor in Fergana region has been dismissed after assaulting an ecology inspector who attempted to stop the illegal cutting of trees. A criminal case has now been opened into the incident.
The incident occurred when Saidjon Khizirov, deputy governor of the Buvayda district responsible for industrial development, capital construction, communications, and public utilities, used physical force against an inspector from the Ecology Department. The inspector had tried to halt the unlawful tree felling and document the violation.
Following the altercation, responsible authorities formed a working group to review the circumstances. According to the press service of the Special Commission, the internal inquiry confirmed misconduct, and Khizirov was removed from his post.
Separately, the Prosecutor General’s Office announced that a criminal investigation has been launched against Khizirov and several other individuals. They are being investigated under:
- Article 206, Part 1 – Abuse of power or official authority
- Article 219, Part 2 – Resistance to a government representative or a person performing civic duty
- Article 198, Part 2 – Damage to or destruction of crops, forests, trees, or other vegetation
The investigation has been placed under the personal supervision of the Prosecutor General.
