On 24 November 2025, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed a decree outlining urgent measures to improve environmental conditions in Tashkent. The document aims to reduce air pollution in the capital and mitigate the effects of climate change.
The Ecology Committee has been instructed to strengthen air-quality monitoring and ensure constant observation of pollution levels in Tashkent.
To achieve this, all meteorological observation stations, including newly installed automated posts, will be connected to the Air Monitoring Uzbekistan platform.
Under the decree, a specialized laboratory will also be created to identify sources of fine-particle pollution such as PM2.5.
The facility will conduct analyses using satellite imagery, modern measurement equipment and modelling technologies, providing scientific justification for environmental policy decisions.
