The 20-year-old delivered an impressive performance throughout the nine-round tournament, remaining undefeated. Over the first eight rounds, he recorded six wins and two draws, collecting a total of seven points. In the final round, he is set to face Ukraine’s Pavel Eljanov.
By winning the tournament, Abdusattorov earned a £25,000 prize and strengthened his position in the global rankings. After losing 18.4 rating points during an earlier setback at the FIDE World Cup, he rebounded in London, gaining 20 rating points and climbing from 22nd to 12th place in the live FIDE rating list.
