President Mirziyoyev honors GM Javokhir Sindarov with state award
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev personally attended a ceremony dedicated to honoring Javokhir Sindarov, the winner of the International Chess Federation (FIDE) Candidates Tournament.

During the event, the president recognized the historic victory as a significant achievement for the people of Uzbekistan and the nation’s growing stature on the global sports stage.
Addressing the participants, President Mirziyoyev extended his heartfelt congratulations to Sindarov, emphasizing that such results are the product of years of tireless work, early experience, and iron discipline. The president expressed deep gratitude to the grandmaster’s parents, grandparents, and coaches for nurturing a champion who embodies the patience, deep intellect, and strong will characteristic of the Uzbek people.

The president stressed Sindarov’s calm and courageous performance against world-class super-grandmasters from India, the United States, China, the Netherlands, Germany, and Russia. He noted that having two Uzbek players among the top five in the FIDE rankings is a testament to the rising prestige of the national chess school. This success serves as a powerful motivation for thousands of talented young people across the country.
During the ceremony, the decree awarding Javokhir Sindarov the Mehnat Shuhrati (Glory of Labor) Order was read aloud. The honor recognizes his exceptional services in popularizing chess among the youth and his record-breaking performance in the Candidates Tournament held in Cyprus, where he secured victory ahead of schedule. President Mirziyoyev personally presented the high state award to the grandmaster.

The president expressed confidence in Sindarov’s future campaigns for the world chess crown. He also reminded the audience that the nation expects further success at the upcoming 46th World Chess Olympiad, which will be hosted in Samarkand this September. In response, Javokhir Sindarov thanked the president for the trust and the comprehensive conditions created for the development of sports in Uzbekistan, pledging to continue representing the nation at the highest level.
