During the meeting, the sides reviewed opportunities to expand practical collaboration and promote new investment initiatives focused on modern technologies and engineering solutions, particularly in the energy sector. Officials noted that interest from Chinese companies in Uzbekistan continues to grow: more than $15 billion in direct investment from China is expected to be deployed this year, while the overall portfolio of joint projects has reached nearly $90 billion.

Energy cooperation remained a central theme of the discussions. Uzbekistan and its Chinese partners are currently implementing more than 30 energy projects with a combined capacity of almost 10 gigawatts and an estimated value exceeding $9 billion. An additional 14 projects worth nearly $2 billion were put into operation today.

In talks with Zhou Yuanlong, President of China Datang, the parties discussed expanding existing photovoltaic plants, building new facilities, and increasing energy-storage capacity. They also supported initiatives on workforce training, the establishment of a research laboratory, and the introduction of renewable-energy technologies in agriculture and livestock sectors.

With Xu Liu, head of China Energy Engineering Corporation, the president discussed progress in constructing solar power stations and energy-storage systems across the regions, stressing the strategic importance of developing renewable energy and high-voltage transmission networks.

Meng Qinglin, Chairman of Sinoma Energy, briefed the president on the construction of a wind power plant and a factory for localizing wind-turbine blade production. The sides also exchanged views on technological solutions for waste-treatment in the chemical and construction industries, noting the need to accelerate work on the ongoing projects.

In his meeting with Nan Yi, CEO of Universal Energy, President Mirziyoyev discussed steps to speed up the construction of wind power plants in various parts of the country.

The president also met Kang Hubiao, Chairman of China General Technology, to review the effective operation of a newly built cogeneration plant and agreed on expanding the company’s investment activities in Uzbekistan.

In addition, President Mirziyoyev supported the plans of Miao Zechun, CEO of Poly Changda Engineering, to build a new energy-storage system next year as a logical extension of the solar power plant commissioned today.
