France to provide €30 million for energy-efficient housing projects in Uzbekistan
The French Development Agency (AFD) has signed a non-sovereign loan agreement with the Uzbekistan Mortgage Refinancing Company (UMRC).
This marks AFD’s first loan issued in Uzbekistan’s national currency, with a total value of €30 million. The funds are intended to establish a credit line to finance measures that help Uzbek households improve the energy efficiency of their homes.
It was also noted that UMRC, as a secondary financial institution, functions as a housing bank and operates through 11 partner banks from both the public and private sectors. This plays a key role in strengthening its participation in projects aimed at enhancing energy efficiency in the financial sector.
In addition, the credit line will be complemented by a €400,000 technical assistance grant. The grant is intended to build the capacity of UMRC and its partner banks, as well as to improve the functionality of the Green Renovation online platform.
