Uzbekistan and Russia agree on flexible pricing for international train services
The parties have signed a memorandum on tariff policy in international passenger transport.
Uzbekistan and Russia will introduce flexible fares and discounts for passenger rail transportation, according to the press service of Uzbekistan Railways.
On December 5, representatives of Uzbekistan Railways, its subsidiary company Uztemiryolyolovchi, as well as Russia’s Federal Passenger Company, discussed current issues related to the organization of international passenger services.
During the talks, the parties reviewed tariff policy matters and joint marketing initiatives, and exchanged information on passenger traffic volumes between Uzbekistan and Russia.
To develop cooperation in shaping a balanced tariff policy in international passenger transport, the parties signed a memorandum of cooperation on tariff setting.
“Under this memorandum, the parties will form a balanced tariff policy, enhance the competitiveness of passenger transportation, conduct joint analysis of tariff decisions, introduce flexible fares and discounts, launch additional international passenger trains, and consider cooperation in the exchange of international experience and the use of digital solutions,” the statement said.
Uzbekistan Railways noted that the signing of the memorandum opens up new opportunities to optimize the transport network and improve the quality of services provided to passengers in both countries.
