Competition Committee warns retails chains against pre-holiday price hikes
Retail chains across the country have received notices aimed at curbing price increases for socially important food products ahead of the holidays.
The Competition Promotion and Consumer Protection Committee has reminded retail chains of the need to ensure price stability for food products in the run-up to the upcoming holidays.
The committee sent the following notices to retail chains:
• promptly inform the committee of any potential price changes proposed by suppliers;
• report increases in logistics and other related costs;
• warn suppliers against unjustified price hikes.
Notices were issued to retail chains including Korzinka, Makro, Havas, Baraka, Magnum, Assorti, B1, and Magnit.
The measures are intended to maintain stable prices for socially important food products during a period of heightened consumer demand ahead of the holidays.
