The committee launched investigations after reviewing whether healthcare providers were complying with legal requirements for setting prices for paid medical services.
At the Namangan Regional Children’s Multidisciplinary Medical Center, the review found that UZS 34.3 million had been wrongly charged to 416 patients for ultrasound services in February, March and April 2026. The patients had been charged without undergoing the required follow-up calibration check of the ultrasound equipment.
A separate review at the Kattakurgan District Health Department in Samarkand region found that patients had been overcharged by nearly UZS 55.7 million for paid medical services in 2024–2025. The overpayments resulted from prices being set above the permitted levels without following the established procedures.
At the Navoi regional branch of the Republican Specialized Scientific and Practical Medical Center for Maternal and Child Health, the committee found that nearly UZS 35 million had been overcharged for paid medical services between 2023 and 2025 as a result of improperly increased prices.
The territorial departments of the Competition Committee in Namangan, Samarkand and Navoi regions have opened cases against the three medical institutions over the violations. The improperly collected funds are to be returned to the affected patients.
