“Our goal is to improve people’s lives” – Saida Mirziyoyeva gives her first major interview

On a personal note, she said she takes great satisfaction in international diplomacy and dialogue, reiterating that the overarching aim is to improve people’s lives and that “every individual matters.” Mirziyoyeva linked her appointment as head of the administration to the need to provide the president with direct, unfiltered information about the real situation on the ground.

In her first major interview, Saida Mirziyoyeva spoke candidly about her work, the president’s leadership style, and the administration’s core responsibilities. She said the Presidential Administration primarily develops strategic directions and provides clear guidance to the executive branch. Describing the current period as an “era of reforms,” she emphasized that systemic changes require constant oversight and a high level of responsibility.

During the interview, Mirziyoyeva addressed the personal qualities and leadership approach of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, describing him as a leader who listens to people, treats them with respect, and is capable of developing and empowering a team. According to her, the head of state places strong emphasis on trust within the team, open exchange of views, and the professional growth of personnel. She noted that reforms are achieved not only through strictness, but also through flexibility and wisdom.

Saida Mirziyoyeva reiterated the five priority areas for the Presidential Administration: water, education, healthcare, business, and the judicial and legal system. She highlighted water management as one of the most serious future challenges, noting that for an agrarian country this issue has strategic importance. Changes in education and healthcare, she said, are long-term processes, and their results cannot be expected overnight.

She placed particular emphasis on the judicial and legal system, stating that without a transparent and fair court system, reforms in other areas cannot be fully effective. In her view, improving the business climate, increasing investment and trust, and protecting citizens’ rights ultimately depend on the rule of law.

From a personal perspective, Mirziyoyeva described international diplomacy and communication as the areas she enjoys most. She said she takes pleasure in engaging with people, building connections, and strengthening cooperation. Reiterating that the goal is to improve people’s lives, she emphasized that the principle of “every individual matters” should be central to public administration.

In the interview, she also touched on the reasons behind her appointment as head of the Presidential Administration. According to Mirziyoyeva, the president needs a mechanism that can convey the real situation in the regions directly – in other words, “eyes and hands” that see the true state of affairs, report it without concealment, and monitor the implementation of instructions. She linked her appointment precisely to this need – strengthening the execution of reforms at the local level and ensuring that the leadership receives an accurate picture of realities on the ground.
