Tashkent residents report highest inflation as nationwide perception hits 12 percent

According to surveys conducted by the Central Bank, residents of Tashkent city said prices rose by 14.3 percent over the past 12 months, while respondents in Kashkadarya region reported feeling inflation at 14.1 percent. The lowest perceived inflation was recorded in Khorezm region at 10.4 percent. Households expect inflation of 11.5 percent in 2026, while businesses forecast 11.1 percent.

In December 2025, the annual inflation rate perceived by Uzbekistan’s population increased by 0.2 percentage points compared to November, reaching 12.0 percent, the Central Bank reported.

More than 3,800 respondents took part in the survey. Based on their responses, perceived inflation was highest in Tashkent city at 14.3 percent, followed by Kashkadarya region at 14.1 percent and Tashkent region at 13.8 percent.

Residents of Khorezm reported the smallest increase in prices – 10.4 percent. People living in Samarkand region felt inflation at 10.6 percent, while residents of Jizzakh region reported 10.9 percent.

In December, the main goods and services for which households observed the highest price growth were meat and dairy products, gasoline and fuel, fruits and vegetables, electricity and natural gas, medicines, as well as public transport fares and transportation services.

Households with monthly incomes of up to UZS 2 million felt the lowest inflation – 10.5 percent. By contrast, respondents earning more than UZS 20 million per month believe that prices increased by more than 17 percent over the past 12 months.

The population’s inflation expectations for 2026 stand at 11.5 percent. Business representatives, meanwhile, are projecting inflation of 11.1 percent this year.
