Foreign business presence in Uzbekistan nearly doubles over five years
Uzbekistan has recorded a sharp increase in the number of enterprises with foreign capital, with their total now exceeding 18,000, according to the National Statistics Committee.
As of January 1, 2026, a total of 18,164 companies operating in the country involve foreign investment. Of these, 4,247 are joint ventures, while 13,917 are fully foreign-owned enterprises.
Official data show that the number of companies with foreign participation has grown nearly twofold over the past five years, showing a sustained expansion in cross-border business activity in the Uzbek economy.
China ranks as the largest source of foreign-invested enterprises in Uzbekistan, with 5,044 companies. Russia follows with 3,181 enterprises, while Turkey ranks third with 2,137. Kazakhstan takes fourth place with 1,212 companies, followed by South Korea with 693 and Afghanistan with 635.
The United Arab Emirates has 414 enterprises operating in Uzbekistan, while Tajikistan accounts for 389 companies. India and the United States round out the top ten, with 375 and 340 enterprises, respectively.
