Competition Committee warns public of fraudulent emails sent in its name

The Competition Committee has warned entrepreneurs and citizens about fraudulent emails being circulated in the institution’s name, urging recipients not to trust such messages or follow any links contained in them.

According to the committee, the emails in question do not originate from the Competition Committee and contain false information. The messages typically claim that a legal assessment is being conducted regarding compliance with competition legislation and attempt to intimidate recipients by threatening fines. To reinforce the deception, the senders encourage recipients to click on links or scan QR codes provided in the emails.

The committee cautioned that such links may redirect users to fake websites designed to steal personal or confidential information. Citizens and business owners were strongly advised to ignore these messages and refrain from opening any attached links or QR codes.

Those who encounter similar fraudulent communications are encouraged to report them to the Competition Committee via the hotline +998 712074800 or the short number 1159.

The warning follows similar alerts issued by other government bodies. The Ministry of Justice previously reported cases in which fake notifications concerning enforcement proceedings were sent to entrepreneurs and citizens via email, using the ministry’s name to distribute misleading information and redirect users to data-stealing websites.

Earlier, the Sanitary and Epidemiological Service also warned the public about impostors posing as sanitation officials and collecting money under the pretext of carrying out disinfection. The agency clarified that its staff do not conduct door-to-door visits or visit businesses to provide disinfection services or sell related products. Such services, it said, are provided only upon voluntary request and on the basis of a formal contract.
