Tax Committee reports nearly $3bn in discrepancies in 2025
The Tax Committee identified tax discrepancies totaling nearly $3 billion in 2025 as a result of desk (cameral) audits, with more than half of the irregularities linked to value-added tax (VAT).
Over the year, tax authorities conducted cameral audits on 45,300 taxpayers, a 42 percent increase compared to 2024. These audits covered nearly 8 percent of all registered taxpayers nationwide.
As a result of the inspections, discrepancies amounting to UZS 36.8 trillion were detected, an increase of 2.39 times year on year. Taxpayers involved were issued formal notices detailing the identified inconsistencies.
Nearly 40 percent of all discrepancies, or UZS 14.6 trillion, were recorded in Tashkent, where 9,570 taxpayers were audited. The next highest figures were reported by the Interregional Tax Inspectorate for Large Taxpayers (UZS 6.63 trillion), followed by Tashkent region (UZS 3.76 trillion) and Andijan region (UZS 3.64 trillion). In other regions, the volume of discrepancies did not exceed UZS 1 trillion each.
VAT accounted for the largest share of inconsistencies, totaling UZS 18.6 trillion, more than double the figure recorded in 2024. Discrepancies related to corporate income tax reached UZS 10.9 trillion, up 71.3 percent year on year. They were followed by excise tax at UZS 3.5 trillion, property tax at UZS 1.3 trillion, and other taxes and fees amounting to UZS 2.34 trillion.
By sector, the largest discrepancies were identified in catering, trade, and service industries, where inconsistencies totaled UZS 17.7 trillion, a 2.11-fold increase compared to the previous year. Manufacturing followed with UZS 8.1 trillion, up 3.15 times. Discrepancies in construction reached UZS 4.2 trillion, while the transport sector recorded UZS 2.9 trillion – more than four times higher than in 2024. In agriculture, inconsistencies amounted to UZS 1.2 trillion, marking a 57.8 percent increase.
