Corporate income tax emerges as largest source of Uzbekistan’s budget revenue

According to data released by the State Tax Committee, total budget revenues nationwide reached UZS 247.8 trillion last year, marking a 24 percent increase compared with the previous year. The strongest growth in collections was recorded in Navoi, Syrdarya, and Tashkent regions, as well as in Tashkent city.
Corporate income tax accounted for the largest portion of revenues, bringing in UZS 72.3 trillion, up 37 percent year on year. Value-added tax followed with UZS 45.2 trillion, reflecting a 14 percent increase, while personal income tax generated UZS 42.4 trillion, up 20 percent.
Other major revenue sources also posted solid growth. Taxes on the use of subsoil resources totaled UZS 25.8 trillion, an increase of 28 percent. Excise tax revenues reached UZS 20 trillion, up 13 percent, while non-tax revenues amounted to UZS 19.5 trillion, marking a 31 percent rise. Land tax collections stood at UZS 10 trillion, up 22 percent, and property tax revenues reached UZS 8 trillion, an 18 percent increase. Turnover tax brought in UZS 3.1 trillion, up 8 percent, while taxes on the use of water resources totaled UZS 1.4 trillion, reflecting a 21 percent increase.
The revenue figures were released against the backdrop of personnel changes within the tax system. Earlier reports said disciplinary measures were taken against 53 officials for failing to adequately perform their duties. As a result, seven regional tax inspection heads, one deputy head of a regional tax department, and one department head were dismissed.
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev has also instructed the chairman of the State Tax Committee to dismiss the heads of all district tax inspectorates in Tashkent city and appoint acting officials in their place.
