Foreign business presence in Uzbekistan nearly doubles in five years
The number of enterprises operating in Uzbekistan with foreign capital participation has exceeded 18,500, reflecting continued growth in international business engagement with the country’s economy.
According to the National Statistics Committee, as of 1 February 2026, a total of 18,513 enterprises with foreign investment were active in Uzbekistan. Of these, 4,282 operate as joint ventures, while 14,231 are fully foreign-owned companies.
Over the past five years, the total number of enterprises with foreign capital has increased 1.9 times. During the same period, the share of fully foreign-owned companies in the overall structure rose significantly, from 55.1% to 76.9%, indicating a marked shift toward greater direct foreign ownership in the country’s business landscape.

The largest number of foreign-invested enterprises in Uzbekistan originates from the following countries:
- China — 5,218 enterprises
- Russia — 3,190 enterprises
- Turkey — 2,149 enterprises
- Kazakhstan — 1,221 enterprises
- South Korea — 699 enterprises
- Afghanistan — 647 enterprises
- United Arab Emirates — 413 enterprises
- Tajikistan — 410 enterprises
- India — 394 enterprises
- Azerbaijan — 368 enterprises
